The right tools include IFS Applications as BW Offshore’s ERP backbone, as Ekløff explains in detail in a case study and video testimonial.

A sense of scale is a useful attribute to have when you look at a floating production, storage and offloading vessel – an FPSO – as you consider the business needs of an oilfield service company like BW Offshore, an IFS customer for almost ten years.

An FPSO is typically a large ship, either a converted oil tanker or one made for purpose, which plays a key role in enabling the development of oil and gas resources in remote offshore areas where pipelines and other fixed infrastructure don’t exist.

Nowhere is this more apparent than in seas and oceans such as the North Sea, the Gulf of Mexico and the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Brazil.

These are among areas where BW Offshore uses such vessels on projects for its clients, processing and storing hundreds of thousands of barrels of oil and natural gas in a self-contained and mobile vessel – each FPSO has living accommodations and supporting utilities for its skilled crews – often stationed at sea for many years at a time.

This backdrop to the business of BW Offshore puts the complexity of the Norwegian company’s operations into sharp perspective – and highlights the critical role enterprise software plays in enabling the company to manage such complexity, not only in its operations but also in its projects.

As Fritz Ekløff, Senior Vice President of Corporate IT and Systems at BW Offshore, notes:

“We have more than seventy companies running and hundreds of complex projects with thousands of suppliers. So it’s important to us that we have the right tools to help us.”

The right tools include IFS Applications as BW Offshore’s ERP backbone, as Ekløff explains in detail in a case study and video testimonial. He says:

“IFS Applications helps us manage our hugely complex environment. We are running IFS Applications on a truly global scale and currently have 875 users all over the world using the financials, projects, supply chain and HR components.”

Watch the video to see Ekløff explain not only why they chose IFS Applications to help BW Offshore successfully deliver for its clients and the benefits he had seen, but also what he’s looking for in the future from the ERP system especially in mobile solutions.
