Why IFS was named a Leader in the FrontRunners quadrant for Manufacturing Software.

It was a great honor to be named as a Leader in the FrontRunners quadrant for Manufacturing Software and is something that I am very proud about. Manufacturing is one of our focused industries and to get this acknowledgment is a testament to the way that we have developed both the product and the company over the years.

What is the FrontRunners quadrant?

According to Gartner themselves, “The FrontRunners quadrant, powered by Gartner Methodology, provides a data-driven assessment of products in a particular software category to determine which ones offer the best capability and value for small businesses. It is designed to assist small business leaders in making a software purchase.”

You may think that it sounds/looks like a Magic Quadrant, but there are a few differences, namely:

  • FrontRunners is for small business leaders who are looking to buy business software. This means that the data and methodology is tuned for the needs of small businesses.
  • FrontRunners is completely data-driven with no analyst interpretation.
  • FrontRunners is heavily influenced by user reviews.

How are FrontRunners chosen?

There are a minimum number of reviews that are part of the qualification to get into the report, and based on the fact that 90 (I didn’t think that there were that many packages out there!) didn’t qualify again demonstrates our commitment to the manufacturing industry.

How we became a FrontRunner & what’s next for IFS

One of our strategies is the user experience since we want our users to love using IFS Applications. Having spoken to many customers over the last few years, we are achieving this and will continue to innovate in this area to ensure that we maintain this affection.

But a lovely user experience does not run manufacturing companies alone. Strong, deep and comprehensive functionality is also required to help manufacturers be more efficient and competitive within their specific area.

However, we will not rest on our laurels. We will continue developing our leading enterprise resource planning (ERP) application to maintain this position. Coincidently, I have my next meeting with R&D in a couple of weeks where we will be reviewing our roadmap to check that what we are developing is what our customers will need both today and in the future.

Driving the manufacturing industry forward is something that I am passionate about and am always trying to think how we can do things better, and while my journey may never end, it will always be fun!
